One of the parts that does not need to be replaced until the car is discarded is the glow plug, but the glow plug in this car is inferior.

It seems that there are multiple types of glow plugs for the 4M40 engine, such as ceramic plugs (made by Denso, which are mainly equipped in the early model) and metal plugs (made by Bosch, which are mainly installed in the latter model). *Currently there is only a metal plug (made by Bosch)

When the engine started to feel bad, I found out that the deterioration of the glow plug was the cause, so I bought a new glow plug (it was a metal plug).

However, even within a year, the engine started getting worse, so when I pulled out all the glow plugs and connected them directly to the battery, only one did not generate heat.

I replaced it with a used ceramic plug that I had stored (it was a car of over 200,000 km), but one year later, one of the other metal plugs was dead.

It’s a hassle, so I replaced it with a used ceramic plug. It’s been non-trouble since then.

Almost promised column OD switch failure

This is a defect like the promise from the beginning of L400 sales. It will definitely break.

I get the shift knobs from the dismantling shop. This is the third one. It seems that it is not possible to replace only the switch, so it is replacement of the shift knob. I’ve heard that repair at a dealer costs about $130.

The manufacturer discontinued the defect of this switch without improving it from the beginning of L400 sales, but I think that the defect of this switch is not just the defect of the switch.

“I can’t shift!”

I think that this is a serious defect related to the transmission.

It is dangerous at times when you cannot smoothly shift from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd on snowy roads.

I wanted the manufacturer to prepare a “breakable switch” as a countermeasure.
